CultivateLife.org presents Broadcast
CultivateLife.org, in conjunction with San Diego techno label Oceanliner Records and their new partners at Detroit-based Beretta Music and Dirty Radio, present Broadcast - the four-series Broadcast Sessions at Ventanas last year brought some of techno's legends and soon-to-be's - from Proton Radio jock Dan Mnookin and the inaugural performance of Soul in the Machine, to three of Europe's most well-renowned techno artists in succession - Berlin's Stewart Walker, Barcelona's Geoff White and Detroit legend Alan Oldham aka T-1000 rounded out a set of parties that would get respect in Berlin or Detroit, the birthplaces of the genre in both its classic and modern forms.
Broadcast is now making it's permanent home on the airwaves live on Dirty Radio, and at 1409 C St, an intimate two-room space called the HoneyBee Hive that on the first Saturday of every month turns into a shrine for the genre of techno and a home for some of the best local and global artists. April 2nd features three DJs from Detroit's Beretta label - Brian Kage, Geoff Stanley and San Diego transplant DJ Ryski will be keeping the front room jackin' with "the next evolutionary step of tech-house and techno to emerge from Detroit. Drawing heavy influence from the records to come from overseas, the label manages to craftfully fuse the funky tech house sounds of Europe with new school Detroit textures." Meanwhile, along with the classic video games being played and projected out mid-room (Street Fighter II anyone?), minimal live PA duo nominal will keep that amazing vibe in back with their Plastikman-meets-Trans Am sound, as well as an amazing 909 live PA from Austin Speed, and intelligent, seasoned sets from new residents Elizabitch and nightshade.
Stay tuned, for the spring and summer is going to again yield some of the most innovative electronic artists on the planet, from a live set from minimal techno legend Adam Jay in May to the return of Broadcast artists from Chicago, Detroit, and beyond...
Broadcast is at 1409 C St. (Corner of 14th & C Downtown SD)
Come as you are, 21+, 9PM-2AM, $5
